Probably The Most INSANE Acoustic Guitar Exercise I’ve Ever Played

Probably The Most INSANE Acoustic Guitar Exercise I’ve Ever Played

May 16, 2020

Developing your technique is one of the most important things you should do.
Now, technique means a lot of things. It’s a combination of factors that, when developed fully, can slowly change the way you play.

We are referring to control, finger strength, fingers stretch, volume, speed, tone, rhythm, musicality, etc. All these elements make up your overall technique. Now, this is done over some time.

The exercise I was playing at the beginning of the video can develop pretty much all these elements.

I was playing chords in the form of arpeggios. So I was spelling out the notes of the chords.

The C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, and Bdim chord as an arpeggio. It’s indeed quite challenging, so I am going to show you different steps to get there.

Speed is not the main goal. This lesson is about developing control, fingers stretch, fingers strength, volume, plucking, speed, and musicality.

So you can practice this exercise at your own pace. I will be going super slowly, and you should do that too.

So, good luck with this lesson.

20 Beautiful Chord Progressions Perfect for Strumming

20 Beautiful Chord Progressions Perfect for Strumming

May 13, 2020

Hey guys, welcome to another video! Today I want to show you 20 beautiful chord progression perfect for strumming.

The strumming is a guitar technique that allows you to brush the strings with either a guitar pick or a finger. This technique is very simple and perfect for beginners

There are only two strumming movements: The upstroke and downstroke. In this video, I am going to show you how to play a bunch of chord progressions using different strumming patterns.

I will be strumming the strings with my index finger. As a fingerstyle player, I don’t usually use the guitar pick. For this reason, I am more comfortable switching between fingerstyle and strumming by only using my fingers.

If you prefer to strum the strings with a guitar pick, go ahead and use it. Both the guitar pick and the finger are great for strumming.

Just Play Along Module 10 | Slow Melody in F# Minor

Just Play Along Module 10 | Slow Melody in F# Minor

May 9, 2020

Hey guys, welcome to another module of Just Play Along. In this lesson, we will be taking a look at a melody in F# minor played in a Pop style. The goal is to use the F# minor scale to write a simple yet beautiful Pop solo.

In this module, we will try to use open strings as less as possible. One of the benefits of playing fretted notes is that we have more control over the control and vibrato.

The F# minor scale is not a scale that we use that ofter, so I suggest that you check Scales, Arpeggios, & Musical ideas to learn how to play this scale correctly.

Just Play Along is a guitar course that put scales into practice. The goal for this course is to introduce you to music scales with musical examples played along with a backing track.

Watch the video introduction here and move on to the next video to learn this excellent solo.

Good luck!

BASIC FINGERSTYLE BLUES … Just the Notes You Need!

BASIC FINGERSTYLE BLUES … Just the Notes You Need!

May 8, 2020

Hey guys, welcome to another Blues lesson. Today we are going to approach a minimalist and straightforward Blues. We will try to play Blues with fewer notes.

The last Blues lesson I posted was about the Melodic Blues in C. You guys loved it, but it was quite busy on chords. Also, the melody was played with the thumb-slap and strum technique, which can be quite challenging.

Today we will try to do the opposite and approach the Blues in the most simple way possible.

Now, when you step down to simple, you have to give 100% in tone and dynamic. Playing just a few notes can be way more difficult than playing fast sequences of notes because you have to interpret each note with purpose.

We will discuss that throughout the lesson.

I will link my Blues playlist down below, so make sure you check it out if you want instant access to more Blues lesson!

Let’s get started.

We are playing Blues in E, one of the most popular Blues on guitar, so I am pretty sure you are already familiar with the chords.

Beautiful Acoustic Solo Easy to Play … in 4 Different Steps.

Beautiful Acoustic Solo Easy to Play … in 4 Different Steps.

May 5, 2020

Hey guys, today I want to show you how to play a simple acoustic guitar solo in 4 different steps over a reggae backing track.

The goal is to play the solo using a different musical element in each step. We will be using:

  • Step 1. Melody with the D major scale.
  • Step 2. Melody in thirds.
  • Step 3. Melody with arpeggios.
  • Step 4. Melody with a descending scale.

The backing track is played with a simple chord progression in D major: D A Bm G D A G. We will also use the D major scale to write all the musical ideas.

The chord progression is great for playing simple stuff. I recommend that you learn how to play each section slowly before trying to play over the backing track. Also, you can use the same musical element over the entire backing track before moving on to the next one.

Enjoy this lesson.

My Favorite Chords Can be Played with Just Two Fingers!

My Favorite Chords Can be Played with Just Two Fingers!

May 1, 2020

We can approach a chord progression in many different ways. One of the ways that I find to be extremely successful is when we play all the chords using the same family.

The chord progression I played at the beginning of the video was entirely played with major 7th and minor 7th chords.

If you have been playing for a while, the chances are that you already know some of these chords. You probably also know that they sound pretty jazzy.

The question is, “why this chord progression doesn’t sound quite like the common 7th chords?

Well, the answer is that I was only using the root and 7th of the chord, which made the chords less jazzy and more pop. I was also playing the eighth note rhythm emphasizing the first, fourth, and seventh note, which makes the chord progression sound even more pop.

This chord progression is played with a lot of plucking with the thumb so take it slowly!

Enjoy the lesson.

The Fingerstyle Minuet Everyone Should Learn (J.S.Bach/Petzold)

The Fingerstyle Minuet Everyone Should Learn (J.S.Bach/Petzold)

Apr 28, 2020

The Minuet in G major is one of the most famous piano compositions ever written. It’s a simple and beautiful composition that almost any musicians learn or teach.

This Minuet was written in the 17th Century. It was attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, but it was composed by Christian Petzold.

One thing that I love about this classical composition is how modern it sounds. If you break down the chords, you end up with a Pop chord progression that can be used to write a thousand songs.

In this guitar lesson, I am going to show you how to play my version of the Minuet in G with the Capo on fret III. The song is in G major key, but it is played with the chord shapes we find in the key of E major.

I think the version in G major is overplayed, and there are a lot of tutorials available out there, so I thought I would try to give a different interpretation to the song.

Enjoy the lesson.

This Spanish Guitar Strumming Technique is Awesome! (Rasgueado Technique)

This Spanish Guitar Strumming Technique is Awesome! (Rasgueado Technique)

Apr 24, 2020

Hey guys, welcome to another guitar lesson. Today, I want to show you how to play a captivating Spanish guitar strumming technique called rasgueado.

The rasqueado is a flamenco technique very similar to the strumming. The only difference though, is that with the rasqueado we strum with multiple fingers.

In this guitar lesson, I am going to show you the rasqueado triplet played with the ring, middle, and index finger (ami rasqueado). Using the three fingers in sequence will give you a fantastic rhythmic effect that sounds like three quick strums.

The Spanish chord progression you will learn in this lesson is the popular i VII VI V. The chords are Bm, A, G, and F#.

Chords, melody, strumming technique, and more musical elements all combined in one song.

Enjoy!

15 Beautiful Ukulele Chord Progressions Perfect for Songs.

15 Beautiful Ukulele Chord Progressions Perfect for Songs.

Apr 21, 2020

The Ukulele is such a fantastic instrument. It’s small, portable, and has a lovely tone.

Thanks to the nylon strings, the Ukulele is also extremely simple to approach and doesn’t “hurt” like the still strings of the acoustic guitar.

On this tiny little instrument, you can play chords and melodies just like a guitar. However, the Ukulele has only four strings, so it’s super beginner-friendly.

In this Ukulele video, I am going to show you fifteen beautiful chord progression on the Ukulele played in under six minutes. It was mainly a way for me to familiarize my self with the instrument, so I thought it would be interesting to record a video with the chord progressions I practiced.

The Ukulele is quite intuitive. However, it took me a while to understand its fantastic potential.

The Ukulele I am using in this video is the Tenor Uke, which is the third in size (Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Bariton). The Tenor Ukulele tuning is 4G 3C 2E 1A.

Enjoy these chord progressions, and let me know which one is your favorite.

Just Play Along Module 9 | Jazz Melody

Just Play Along Module 9 | Jazz Melody

Apr 18, 2020

Hey guys, welcome to another module of Just Play Along. In this lesson, we will be taking a look at a melody in F major played in a Jazz style. The goal is to use the F major scale to write a simple yet beautiful Jazz solo.

Before you freak out, let me tell you that the goal for this lesson is not to put together as many scales and arpeggios as possible. Instead, we will learn a quite melodic solo only using the F major scale.

We will also use a few chromatic notes just to give a Jazzy feel to the melody.

Just Play Along is a guitar course that put scales into practice. The goal for this course is to introduce you to music scales with musical examples played along with a backing track.

By becoming a Patron, you will access this course as well as all the other courses on my Patreon page.
