5 Awesome Things you can Play in DADGAD Tuning

22/02/2019 Posted by BlitzGuitarAdmin Fingerstyle Guitar Lesson

Hey guys, I have been playing around with the DADGAD tuning for a couple of days and I came up with a bunch of musical ideas I want to share with you.

For you who don’t know, the DADGAD is an alternative guitar tuning mainly associated with Celtic music.

This is how it works:

  • The 6th string is tuned in D (Whole step down).
  • The 5th string is tuned in A.
  • The 4th string is tuned in D.
  • The 3rd string is tuned in D.
  • The 2nd string is tuned in A (Whole step down).
  • The 1st string is tuned in D (Whole step down).

In this lesson, I am going to show you five musical ideas in DADGAD tuning.

Each idea explores the different possibilities that this tuning offers. The symmetrical shapes, open strings, and beautiful chords.

Enjoy this lesson.
